A Burst of Flavor: Broccoli Salad with Blueberries and Gruyère
If you’re craving a salad that strikes the perfect balance between sweet, savory, and crunchy, this broccoli salad with blueberries and Gruyère might just be the answer. It’s a vibrant, nutrient-packed dish that can hold its own as a light meal or serve as a delightful side for a backyard BBQ or potluck.
Broccoli, a cruciferous vegetable that’s rich in vitamins, forms the base of this salad, offering a hearty crunch in every bite. Paired with the sweet burst of fresh blueberries, the salad gains a subtle sweetness that complements the smoky flavor of crumbled bacon. For a bit of texture and nutty flavor, toasted pumpkin seeds are added to the mix, providing a satisfying contrast to the smooth, creamy Gruyère cheese.
The dressing is a simple blend of mayonnaise, cider vinegar, and a touch of sugar, which ties everything together. The tanginess of the cider vinegar perfectly offsets the richness of the cheese and bacon, while the hint of sweetness enhances the natural flavors of the blueberries and broccoli.
Whether you’re preparing it as a make-ahead dish for a gathering or just want something fresh and flavorful to keep in the fridge, this broccoli salad brings together a range of textures and flavors for a satisfying bite. Let it chill for an hour or more before serving—this not only allows the flavors to meld beautifully but also keeps the salad crisp and refreshing.
This recipe is the perfect example of how everyday ingredients can come together to create something truly special. With the addition of blueberries and Gruyère, this broccoli salad goes beyond the ordinary, offering a fresh twist on a classic favorite.
