Glen Breton Whiskey Sauce

Description

This traditionally Scottish whiskey sauce gets a perfectly Canadian twist with maple.  It’ll pair perfectly with Haggis, as it’s intended, but also as an accompaniment to other meats like chicken or steak.


Ingredients

Units Scale

2 tbsp butter
3 shallots, diced
2 tbsp fresh parsley
2oz Glen Breton whiskey
1 cup whipping cream
2 oz maple syrup


Instructions

  1. In a medium size pan melt the butter, saute the shallots and the parsley until the shallots are
    translucent.
  2. Add whiskey and scrape the pan to deglaze, simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. Add whipping cream and maple syrup.  Simmer until the sauce is reduce by 25%.

 

Serve over the mock haggis or enjoy with any meat dish.

Notes

*substitute your favourite whiskey if you aren’t lucky enough to access to Glen Breton!
