Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add the peeled and cut Yukon Gold potatoes. Cover them with cold water and add a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook the potatoes until they are tender and easily pierced with a fork, usually around 15-20 minutes.
  3. Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them in a colander and return them to the pot.
  4. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a fork until they are mostly smooth.
  5. Gradually add in the melted butter, mixing it into the potatoes.
  6. Warm the heavy cream slightly, either in a microwave or on the stove, and then slowly pour it into the potatoes as you continue to mash.
  7. Sprinkle in a pinch of ground nutmeg and mix it in to infuse the potatoes with a subtle warmth.
  8. Season the mashed potatoes with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the seasoning according to your preference.
  9. Continue to mash until the potatoes are creamy and well combined with the butter, cream, and nutmeg.
  10. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  11. Serve the mashed potatoes warm, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
