- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, add the peeled and cut Yukon Gold potatoes. Cover them with cold water and add a pinch of salt.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook the potatoes until they are tender and easily pierced with a fork, usually around 15-20 minutes.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them in a colander and return them to the pot.
- Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a fork until they are mostly smooth.
- Gradually add in the melted butter, mixing it into the potatoes.
- Warm the heavy cream slightly, either in a microwave or on the stove, and then slowly pour it into the potatoes as you continue to mash.
- Sprinkle in a pinch of ground nutmeg and mix it in to infuse the potatoes with a subtle warmth.
- Season the mashed potatoes with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the seasoning according to your preference.
- Continue to mash until the potatoes are creamy and well combined with the butter, cream, and nutmeg.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
- Serve the mashed potatoes warm, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
