- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or cheese of choice
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium high heat.
- Add the flour and stir continuously until the butter and flour are combined and the flour takes on a slightly nutty aroma.
- Slowly whisk in the milk and continue to whisk continuously until thick. Stir in the cheese and continue to stir until melted.
- If the sauce is too thick you can thin it out with a bit more milk.
- Serve over broccoli, use for twice baked potatoes or in a mac and cheese. The possibilities are endless!
