Onion Rings

Ingredients

  • 2 large white onions cut into 1/2” rings
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Hot Under The Kilt Acadian Cajun seasoning ( sub your favorite Cajun seasoning)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup seasoned panko

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 360F
  2. Combine the flour baking powder and Hot Under The Kilt
  3. Dip the onions in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, set aside.
  4. Whisk the egg and buttermilk into the flour mixture.
  5. Dip the onion rings into the batter and set on a cooling rack, allowing the exceed batter to drip off.
  6. Place the panko in a shallow bowl.
  7. Dip the battered onion rings into the panko and place in the deep fryer. Fry until golden brown.
  8. Place onion rings on a paper towel lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
  9. Serve with your favorite condiment and a side of our corndogs, recipe found here.
