Ingredients
Apple Cinnamon Layer
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
Melt the butter in a sauté pan, add the brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, stir to combine, add the apples and toss to coat, sauté until the apples are fork tender. remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Homemade Caramel Sauce
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp corn syrup
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Melt the butter in a medium sized saucepan. Add the brown sugar, corn syrup and sweetened condensed milk, bring to a slow boil and cook for 3-4 minutes stirring continuously, add the cream and bring back to a boil. remove from the heat and set aside.
Vanilla Pudding Layer
- 7 ounces instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1/2 cup icing sugar
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups cold cream
Combine the pudding mix, icing sugar and cold milk, mix until well combined, add the vanilla and cold cream and use a hand mixer to mix until thickened, 3-4 minutes.
Additional Ingredients
1 box graham crackers
Instructions
- To assemble place a single layer of graham crackers in a 9X13 pan .
- Top with half of the apples, spread half of the pudding mixture over the apples.
- Add another layer of graham crackers followed by the rest of the apples and pudding mixture.
- Top with a third layer of crackers.
- Pour the caramel sauce over top of the graham crackers.
- Refrigerate overnight or for a minimum of 4 hours.
Notes
To speed up the process you can use 2 cans of apple pie filling ( add the nutmeg and cinnamon) and a store bought caramel sauce.
