This was a treat that Al enjoyed while growing up in Edmundston NB, being on the Madawaska border it was something that they were able to buy on the US side. I had never seen it done this way but since it’s essentially a cocktail sauce with the shrimp added in it makes perfect sense, after all, who doesn’t love shrimp cocktail!

Cold Water Shrimp Dip

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 lbs cold water shrimp
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp heaping horseradish
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  1. Ina medium sized bowl add ketchup, chili sauce, and horseradish then mix well.
  2. Add the lemon juice salt, pepper and the cold-water shrimp and lightly fold refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Serve with nacho chips or potato chips.
