Black Beans and Rice

Units Scale
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb sausage meat
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 4 green onions, diced
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 3 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 tsp Hot Under The Kilt Acadian Cajun seasoning ( or Cajun seasoning of your choice)
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 1 19 oz can black beans
  • 4 cups chicken broth


  1. Heat the olive oil over medium high heat, sauté the sausage meat until no longer pink.
  2. Add the green pepper, green onions, celery stalks and Hot Under The Kilt, sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the rice. black beans, and chicken broth.
  4. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook for 30-35 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
