A hot and healthier version of your favorite coffee shop treat in under 1/2 hour! These fritters have more of a cake like texture than their deep fried cousins but the only thing missing is the fat, the flavor is quite delicious!

Air Fryer Apple Fritters with Caramel Drizzle

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 large apple
  • Canola oil for spraying

Caramel Sauce

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp golden corn syrup
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare caramel Sauce.
  2. Melt the butter in a sauce pan, add the brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, sea salt and sweetened condensed milk, bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
  3. Add the whipping cream and return to a boil, remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400.
  5. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, mix to combine.
  6. In another bowl combine the cider, vanilla, eggs, lemon juice and vanilla, mix well and mix into the dry ingredients.
  7. Finely chop the apple and stir into the flour mixture.
  8. Line the air fryer with parchment paper. Drop the batter into the air fryer 1/4 cup at a time, spray with canola oil.
  9. Air fry for 4 minutes, turn, spray again and cook for an additional four minutes.
  10. Serve with a drizzle of caramel sauce and powdered sugar.
